The three approaches are:
- Provoking or stimulating
- Using non-specific or indirect hypnosis and metaphors in order to evoke resource-rich states in the client.
- Time Frames – Show the client new ways to move through time and space
During the session, the therapist assumes the position of an ‘old friend’, instantly establishing a real connection to the client. By subtly adopting certain positions, the therapist may provoke the client to new ways of thinking and feeling. Using a great deal of humor, the therapist attempts to reveal the client’s ‘blind spot’. By speaking a ‘meaning-enriched language’, they take the client on a journey outside of their pre-existing convictions and experiences and into a new sense of freedom.
To many observers, this energetic, fun and honest way of working may seem surprising at first. The forte of this method, however, lies in caring and humane interaction, helping the client find their own solutions from a new and beneficial state of mind.
