La Terrasse, located a two-minute walk from the Château, is a small café offering a selection of traditional Mauritian dishes as well as more international dishes.

Domaine de Labourdonnais Powered by La Corbeille, a delicatessen located next to La Terrasse, has revived many of the sweet treats beloved by Mauritians: toffees, “gâteaux coco” (coconut macaroons), shortbread “napolitains”, “gâteaux la boue” (chocolate fondants)… The deli also stocks fresh fruit, juices, fruit pastes and rums from the Domaine de Labourdonnais.
The Domaine de Labourdonnais, a privately owned Estate, was founded in 1774.This magnificent authentic Estate of 540 hectares is surrounded by spectacular green sugar cane fields and is ideally located in the north of the island.Château de Labourdonnais, surrounded by its beautiful orchards, was built between 1856 and 1859 by Christian Wiehe himself then his descendant lived there until recently.This grand mansion was restored between 2006 & 2010 and converted into a museum that invites you to discover the nineteenth century Mauritian lifestyle as well as its history.Fifty years ago, the Estate embarked in a diversification process starting by its agricultural activity to produce a variety of tropical fruits, vegetables.

Our café/restaurant – La Terrasse offers to visitors a true experience of Mauritian cuisine.The orchards date back from 1975 and now offer as much as fifteen different varieties of tropical fruits including:An area of 45 hectares is dedicated to the orchards that produces up to 500 tons of fruit per year.Fruits are sold at our grocery shop La Corbeille, to local buyers, supermarkets and our transformation factory (Les Vergers de Labourdonnais) which produces a variety of products such as; jams, juices and fruit candies/pastes.The Vanilla plantation occupies an area of 2 hectares, under shade houses and was established in 2000.The production approximates 200 kilos of dried pods annually.The cultivation of vanilla is an intensive activity.
