The Sexton Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a new face on the Irish Whiskey market, but unlike most new faces it’s not a blend, but a sherried single malt which was honestly a bit shocking to see.

There is a pronounced peach and apricot note, along with sweet honey notes, some fresh citrus peel, and the dried fruit notes of raisin and fig typically associated with sherry cask matured whiskey. It is produced from triple distilled 100% malted barley, and is aged in a former sherry butts.

In addition, there are notes of candied citrus zest, and a bit of waxiness/furniture polish typical of sherry matured whiskeys.On the palate, the whiskey is very smooth, with the pronounced palate weight and oily viscosity typical of sherried whiskey. The references to the skeletons are an association with the sexton name.
