The road was built for use by locals but can handle up to 30 extra cars per day. The trail to Trolltunga is well signposted. It took us about 4 hrs to hike the trail up in partly cloudy and misty weather.
We decided to drive to the lower lot and see how the weather was up there. From the parking area on top there is a 4 hour hike in each direction.
